How do I delete Google account?

Google, the search engine giant, offers tons of services including email, online document creation, social networking, free blogs etc. All these services are typically managed via a single login (username and password) - that of your Google account. Remember that if you delete the Google account, you shall not be able to access the associated services like Gmail, Google Docs or Blogger. Accounts at these services can also be selectively removed; for step by step instructions please refer how to close a Gmail account or delete a blog at Blogger.

Please note: The process of deleting a Google account requires you to sign in. Having trouble doing that - forgot the username or Gmail password? First try to retrieve the login information. If you cannot do that, I suggest you forget about this account and create a new one using another email address during the sign up process.
Login to your Google account to close it

imageYou first need to login successfully at your Gmail account. Point your browser to the Google accounts home page. Now enter the username and password. You will get to your account profile page. Click on the "Edit" beside the My Products heading.

The next page lists all the services that will cease to exist for you if the Google account is deleted - make sure you put a checkmark in front of each. You then need to enter the current password of your account and confirm your action of deleting the account. Also put a checkmark in front of "Yes, I acknowledge that I am still responsible..." statement. To complete the process, click on the "Delete Google Account" button.

Congratulations! You've successfully closed the account. Keep in mind that any Gmail, Blogger etc. accounts will also be removed.
